Dear Parent or Guardian,
Summer is a season filled with fun, but did you realize that students can experience learning losses when they do not read during the summer? This year Lakeside Christian School wants to partner with you to prevent these learning losses in your child and to create an excitement for reading amongst the student body.

Each student will receive a book choice list from his/her teacher at the end of the year. This book list will have several grade level options for your child to choose from. Your child will also receive a summer reading log that is similar to the one they use during the school year. Each grade level will have one required book to read over the summer. This will be your child’s first grade when they return to school. You may also click on the grade listed below for the reading list and log.

Although there is only one required book, the staff at Lakeside recommends that you read as much as possible with your children and record everything in the summer reading log. Not only is this wonderful for your child’s mind, we are offering a reward to those who go above and beyond the required amount. The week we arrive back at school, we will have a special surprise for the students who return with a filled reading log.
